Team Lead of Securitization

About the position

SMBC is seeking an Executive Director, Credit Officer in the Credit Department with credit and quantitative skills to analyze the credit risk of structured finance transactions, primarily in North America, including (but not limited to) asset-backed lending transactions and securitization. The Executive Director's main responsibility entails the review of credit applications submitted by the front office(s) and the preparation/presentation of credit analysis comments and recommendations to the management of the Credit Department. The scope of analysis and review includes, but is not limited to, quantitative and qualitative analysis of obligor/counterparty credit risk, transaction structure, terms and conditions, underlying asset class and borrower/servicer/originator considerations, profitability, and relationship strategy. The role requires analyzing various risk elements of credit risk related to proposed transactions and the underlying asset classes, and presenting written recommendations to the management of the Credit Department. The Executive Director will coordinate the credit approval process by liaising between the front office(s) and the management of the Credit Department, providing guidance as necessary to ensure compliance with internal standards. Additionally, the role involves managing compliance with internal policies, workflow procedures, regulations, and ensuring that US Regulatory requirements are met with each credit application. Other credit-related works/projects may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities
? Analyze various risk elements of credit risk related to proposed transactions and the underlying asset classes, and present written recommendations to the management of the Credit Department

? Provide guidance, as necessary, to front office(s) to ensure compliance with internal standards

? Manage compliance with internal policies, workflow procedures, regulations, etc.

? Ensure US Regulatory requirements are met with each credit application

? Other credit related works/projects as assigned

Requirements
? Minimum 12 years of experience covering corporate finance and/or structured products
,
? A deep understanding of corporate/structured financing (including securitization/asset-backed lending) and superior attention to details
,
? Ability to manage deal volume in a fast-paced environment, including analyzing the credit application and preparing comments/recommendations in a short timeframe
,
? Critical thinking and ability to analyze a vast and complex amount of information and quickly render credit decisions
,
? Risk sensitivity and ability to steer decisions through discussions with the front office(s)
,
? Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
,
? Ability to adapt to SMBC's credit philosophy and risk appetite
,
? Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or related fields; MBA/CFA or other professional qualification highly preferred
