The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections is seeking an energized and collaborative oriented CAP HVAC Supervisor (HVAC Supervisor) to be a part of the Central Engineering's Construction Apprenticeship Program (CAP) team and provide construction support services to challenging yet rewarding projects.
The CAP HVAC Supervisor provides CAP's mechanical construction team with designing, planning, scheduling, and installing complex mechanical equipment and systems... including but not limited to, chillers, gas fired boilers, DX air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, pumps, DDC control systems, pneumatic controls systems, refrigerant piping, and performing test and balance of systems for the completion of Force Account construction, renovation, major maintenance, and repair projects
The CAP HVAC Supervisor works hands-on and side by side executing, mentoring, supervising, and approving mechanical installations performed by other personnel and State offender labor resources assigned to the Construction Apprenticeship Program (CAP)
A successful candidate should possess mechanical trade skills, strong construction supervision experience, efficient decision-making capabilities, and effective communication
This individual may work under the management of a Construction Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Trade Superintendent on larger multi-trade construction projects or be assigned sole supervisory responsibility for smaller mechanical projects
The employee in this position is expected to perform manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.
The position requires weekly overnight travel to and from the assigned construction projects that could be located anywhere within the State of North Carolina
The CAP HVAC Supervisor position will have a duty station assigned as the individual's permanent home address and is assigned a State owned and maintained vehicle that is used to commute to and from the construction projects and to perform Company business during normal working hours
The work schedule is Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position

? Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to chillers, air handlers, pumps, ventilators, fans, boilers, piping, mini splits, etc.
? Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
? Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
? Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction industry safety requirements.
Management Preferences:
? Certified ASME pressurized pipe welder.
? Certified AWS welder.
? NC Licensed Limited or Unlimited Mechanical License
? Journeyman Mechanical certification
? Comprehensive knowledge of BAU (Building Automation Systems), DDC (Direct Digital Controls), and other pneumatic controls systems
? Skilled in the operation of various heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, loaders, etc.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and up to three years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems including one year at the journey level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
