What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)
? Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs for inpatient and outpatient medical records
? Abstract key data elements required for billing
? Review records for clinical pertinence
? Interact with providers for clarification of documentation/education
? Maintain CE credits in accordance with AHIMA requirements

What Is Required (Qualifications)
? Associate or bachelor's degree
? Certification as RHIT, RHIA, or CCS
? Thorough working knowledge of ICD-10CM/PCS, CPT coding systems, and DRG systems
? Working knowledge of hospital information systems, electronic medical records, and encoder
? Working knowledge of medical-legal rules and regulations

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
? 0-2 years of experience in a similar role
? Strong interpersonal skills
? Proficiency in medical terminology
? Experience with EMR systems
