Department: Academic Support & Compliance Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development and Retention will serve as an integral piece of our academics and compliance office. Predominately focusing on the academic success of our at-risk student population and men's and women?s basketball teams, this position will also be tasked with creating programming centered on the holistic development of our student-athletes, along with initiatives that will aid in retention. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications: Required Education and/or Experience: Bachelor?s degree; One year of experience working in a college student services area. Preferred Education and/or Experience: Master?s degree in a sport-related field; Two years of experience working in a college student services area; Experience working with at-risk student-athletes commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, Conference, and NCAA regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide intensive academic support to an assigned group of identified student-athletes - specifically MBB and WBB with the oversight of the Director of Academic?s/SWA; Mentor of incoming and returning Student-Athletes, with goal setting and professional development; Work with students one-on-one and in small groups and assist with skill development by teaching study skills and promoting skill development within the content areas of the student's courses; Work with the Associate Director of Athletic Academics to recommend a course of action by providing services, policies, procedures, and informational material related to student-athletes with learning challenges; Support academic programs by providing skill techniques, time management, and related academic information to students; evaluating students? academic abilities and skills; assisting students in developing academic plans; Contribute to academic programming including the Trojan Transition (summer bridge) programming, class rank meetings, and orientation sessions, and Student-Athlete Graduation; Serve as liaison for school and academic departments by interpreting academic policies and procedures and curriculum issues; Serve as Tutor coordinator with regard to the selection, hiring, and assigning of tutors; Meet with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits and provide coaches with relevant NCAA Eligibility Center information regarding prospective student-athletes; Work with Associate AD/SWA on special projects for teams and assist with Community Service projects as well as Life Skills; Perform other related duties as assigned.
