The Walt Disney Company, known for its groundbreaking work in film and animation, is searching for a Senior Software Engineer - Render Services to join our Stage Engineering team. This role will contribute to building and supporting the Linux-based infrastructure and tools that enable our world-renowned animators to bring magic to life in feature films.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you?ll collaborate closely with artists, producers, and technical designers to maintain and enhance the vital systems that drive animation production. You?ll play a crucial role in developing high-availability infrastructure and supporting tools and services that cater to both current and future film needs. This position is essential to Disney?s evolving production landscape, supporting technology initiatives primarily for our Vancouver studio while collaborating on large-scale projects with our Burbank team.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Design & Support: Architect, implement, and maintain high-availability systems to ensure reliable artist support for render farms, storage, and desktop solutions.

Tool & System Development: Design and develop scheduling and job-management software for render services, storage, and artist workflows.

Problem Solving: Conduct cross-functional troubleshooting and optimize workflows to enhance performance.

Collaboration & Coaching: Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret technical requirements, identify potential improvements, and provide mentorship within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Documentation & Compliance: Record engineering solutions for effective service delivery and maintain compliance with all company policies and protocols.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Linux Expertise: Advanced understanding of Linux system design, kernel, and APIs, with experience managing Linux-based infrastructure.

Programming Skills: Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; experience with QT C++ APIs is a plus.

Storage Knowledge: Experience with network storage and protocols (NFS, SMB).

Cloud & Container Platforms: Experience with AWS, GCP, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes is advantageous.

Database Experience: Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases such as MongoDB, ELK, or Postgres.

Network & Security: Foundational knowledge in networking, routing, and security principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Media and Entertainment workflows.

Familiarity with network storage architecture and protocols.

Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
