Downtown Baltimore Guide (DBG)
The DBG position starting hourly rate will be $15.00. The position is full-time only.
Objective:
The overall mission of the Downtown Baltimore Guide Program is to assist in creating a secure, well-managed, and welcoming environment for all parties who frequent Downtown Baltimore, including but not limited to tourists, visitors, employees, and residents.
Under direct supervision, DBGs will serve as the eyes and ears of the Business Community and will serve as Tourism Ambassadors of Downtown Partnership. DBGs will patrol specified areas, thereby providing a visible uniformed presence to observe and report street disorder. DBGs will also serve as sources of information to the public, police officers, local businesses, tenants, and other agencies and organizations.
Essential Job Functions:
? Communicate Baltimore's resources, sites of interest, and current environment to assist employees, shoppers, and visitors throughout the Downtown Baltimore District.
? Must be able to walk and stand outdoors in extreme climates for a seven-and-a-half shift while carrying approximately 10 pounds of equipment
? Patrol designated areas on foot as ?eyes and ears? of the Baltimore Police Department, communicating crimes and disturbances via 2-way radio.
? Serve as goodwill ambassadors, information sources, and positive welcoming advocates for Downtown Baltimore.
? Assist with first aid and emergency situations.
? Daily interaction with downtown Baltimore businesses, representatives, and tenants for communication and support, including periodically serving as escorts for employees, and visitors on their way to their vehicle and/or destination.
? Represent the Downtown Management Authority and the DBG program in a professional manner at meetings and special events.
? Complete daily activity reports and other assignments as specified by the supervisor.
? Work on special assignments both individually and with others.
Qualifications: ? Minimum of high school diploma or GED. ? Related experience in the following fields including hospitality, security, customer service, or a combination of experience and education. ? Ability to work day and evening shifts, weekend,s and holidays ? Minimum age of 18 years. ? Excellent interpersonal skills. ? Demonstrate experience with public contact positions. ? Willingness to wear a specified uniform and to maintain a neat and professional appearance. ? Ability to work well with others and support Downtown Partnership of Baltimore in a wide variety of activities. Must be capable of following written and verbal directives. ? Stable work history. ? A valid driver?s license is recommended but not required. ? Successfully pass pre-employment tests; including controlled substance screening, background investigation, and reference checks.
This full-time position starts at $15 per hour, then increases to $18 per hour on the first of the month after 60 days of employment and is eligible for potential overtime and bonuses.
