General Summary: The General Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, including managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining store appearance, and driving sales performance. The Store Manager plays a key role in leading the team, optimizing store operations, and achieving financial goals.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Leadership and Staff Management:
? Source, interview, educate, and manage store staff.
? Create a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and experimentation, and promoting knowledge-sharing and collaboration across teams.
? Evaluate the achievements of personnel and provide feedback that fosters their ongoing development.
? Systematically schedule shifts and manage labor costs in a proficient manner.
Customer Service:
? Ensure unparalleled customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and swift resolution of customer issues or complaints.
? Introducing innovative policies and procedures can set a business apart from other competitors and enhance customer experience. This can include initiatives like personalized shopping experiences and exclusive deals for loyal customers.
Sales and Financial Performance:
? Evaluate sales data and establish methods to achieve or surpass sales goals.
? Proper inventory management involves a balance between having enough stock to meet customer demand, while also minimizing costs associated with excess inventory.
? Oversee store expenses, budget, and cash management strategies to ensure that the business remains profitable.
Store Operations:
? Create a visually appealing atmosphere that showcases the merchandise while still providing ample room for maneuvering and browsing.
? Conduct background checks on prospective employees to identify potential security threats within the organization.
? Uphold compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations to promote a productive and stress-free work setting.
Merchandise Management:
? Implement company guidelines on stocking, rotation and display of products to maintain compliance.
? Govern the placement of advertising exhibits and holiday merchandise.
Administrative Duties:
? Oversee and manage administrative tasks for a store, ranging from handling payroll to maintaining employee records and scheduling staff shifts.
? Effectively monitor and manage the stores monetary outflows by following budget guidelines and regulations.
Knowledge and Skills:
? Leadership: Outstanding management and leadership abilities require the skill to motivate and direct a team with ease.
? Customer Service: The key to outstanding customer service and positive interactions with employees lies in exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
? Sales Management: To succeed as a sales manager, one must be able to scrutinize sales data and devise plans that enhance store performance.
? Organizational Skills: Excelling in multitasking and organizational skills for streamlined store operations.
? Problem-Solving: Successful problem solvers can apply analytical thinking and strategic planning to address and overcome challenges.
Work Experience and/or Education:
? Education: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent, and applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related area of expertise will be given preference.
? Experience: Applicants with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience successfully managing retail operations are preferred, as well as a demonstrated ability to motivate staff and meet sales objectives.
Working Conditions:
? The shift involves consistent standing, walking, and bending as part of the job.
? It may be required to handle merchandise and lift objects up to 55 pounds from time to time.
? With a hustle-and-bustle atmosphere and moderate noise, this retail environment can be demanding.
? Proficiency to work flexible hours and be available for shifts during weekends, holidays, and evenings as and when required.
