Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Details:This position is expected to interact with students and patrons in a patient and polite manner in an effort to create a healthy library environment conducive to learning.Responsibilities:Unlock doors and prepare library for patronsCheck book dropsProcess and shelve newspapersAssist student and patrons with computers, printers/copiers, scanners and other library equipmentAid students with specific types of software and internet-based resources (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, library database access, library print software, etc.).Aid students with common library procedures, such as study room reservation and finding booksSell convenience-based college school supplies (i.e.: pencils, pens, scantrons, flash drives, ear buds, etc.)Reconcile cash drawer contents at beginning and end of shiftHandle money in a responsible and professional mannerReceive payments for over-due fines and fees and documents appropriatelyHelp to maintain order in the libraryStraighten furnitureRecord incidents and report to full-time staff membersParticipate in special projectsFollow and adhere to general Kilgore College and Watson Library policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma/GEDAbility to prioritize tasks and organize work efficientlyAbility to develop and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and staffPunctual, dedicated, friendly, and willing to practice radical hospitality on a daily basisGreat attention to detailBe able to lift up to 25 lbs., sit for long periods, read & work from computer 85% of the timeComputer skills to include proficiency in work processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and database applicationsAble to work well with little supervision and relate well to a diverse student and faculty populationExcellent written and verbal communications skillsAble to work in a typical office environmentAble to handle occasional high levels of stressOrganized, confidentiality-minded, expedient, tactful, and even-temperedExcellent customer service skills are requiredSalary Range & Fringe Benefits:The rate of pay for this position is $10 per hour for 10 hours per week. Working hours are 2-6PM Sunday and 4-8PM Monday through Thursday.
