We are looking for an experienced tax professional to provide support for the Income Tax Planning & Policy Team. This role will include managing income tax controversies, monitoring and assessing US Federal tax legislation for tax impacts to Starbucks, and ensuring cooperation and coordination with the Tax Operations, Tax Accounting, and Tax Enablement Teams to support tax reporting and process improvement. As a partner in the Global Tax Department, you will be a part of a team that will contribute to shaping the Company?s global tax policy in an ever- changing business and tax environment.
As a Income Tax Planning & Policy manager, you will?
? Manage the organization & administration of income tax controversies including those in Federal, State, and International jurisdictions, including working directly with taxing authorities.
? Work closely with the Tax Operations, Tax Accounting, and Tax Data Enablement Teams to manage key Controversy initiatives.
? Work closely with internal cross-functional teams in support of controversy efforts and business initiatives or special projects. Manage external service providers.
? Monitor and evaluate the impact of new US federal/domestic tax legislation on the Company. Research and interpret current and emerging tax regulations to analyze the impact to the Company.
? Manage US domestic income tax special projects. Work with Tax Operations and Tax Data Enablement Teams to ensure implementation and integration of tax reporting and tax compliance requirements.
? Engage as a stakeholder in cross-functional business led projects to evaluate, advise, and optimize income tax implications in support of business initiatives.
We?d Love To Hear From People With
? 8-10 years of income tax experience required in public accounting of large public company
? This role is required to have some experience with income tax controversy / IRS audits
? Ability to document and communicate technical tax issues and policies clearly to non-tax collegues
? Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with peers across the finance organization
? Undergraduate in accounting, finance, or business related field is preferred
? Master in taxation or JD with LLM in tax preferred
? Certified public accountant, chartered accountant, or licensed attorney preferred
