Student Trainee (IT Cyber Security) - Location Negotiable

This is a summer 2025 internship position. The National Credit Union Administration is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for exciting internship positions. The Pathways Intern Program provides paid work experiences for students to work in areas such as finance, communications, technology, policy, personnel, and business. These positions are temporary, not to exceed 90 days. This position may be extended or non-competitively converted to a permanent position.

As an intern, you will be selected to work in either the Office of Business Innovation (OBI) or Office of Examination and Insurance (E&I)

OBI drives innovation through collaboration with NCUA stakeholders to transform and modernize business practices, processes, and technology. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
? Assisting the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) team in preparing packages for security reviews and drafting presentations for meetings
? Collaborating with the ISSOs in carrying out the security policy of the agency
? The student intern will gain hands-on knowledge and experience with a federal agency's information security program.

E&I oversees the NCUA's supervision and examination program that ensures the safety and soundness of federally insured credit unions and manages risk to the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
? Data Analysis and Validation: Assist in reviewing and validating incoming cyber incident reports from affiliated credit unions. Analyze and categorize reported incidents based on the NCUA's guidelines.
? Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized records of all incident reports, ensuring they are complete and accurate.
? Conduct date-entry and curation of CINR database or tracking system for incident reports and their status.
? Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure prompt follow-up and resolution of reported incidents. Assist in communicating with affiliated credit unions to request additional information or clarify incident details.
? Research and Compliance: Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity regulations and NCUA reporting requirements. Research best practices in incident reporting and response.
? Reporting and Documentation: Generate periodic reports summarizing incident statistics, trends, and resolution statuses. Create documentation, including guidelines and checklists, to streamline the incident reporting process.
? Education and Training: Assist in organizing training sessions or workshops for affiliated credit unions to raise awareness of the NCUA reporting requirements and best practices in incident reporting.
? Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on incident reports to ensure they adhere to NCUA guidelines.
? Provide feedback to credit unions on improving the quality and completeness of their incident reports.
