This is a home-based (remote optional), full-time, non-permanent (12-month duration) Health Services Consultant 2 position.

This position is a key part of the Department of Health?s mission to protect and improve the health of Washington residents. As a subject matter expert, you will coordinate and manage the credentialing process for health care professionals within the HSQA Credentialing Section, ensuring both accuracy and compliance with regulations.

What You?ll Do

As the Credentialing Specialist, you will provide expert technical guidance to health care providers and staff on complex credentialing and regulatory matters. You?ll help resolve unique issues, recommend process improvements, and ensure licensing activities adhere to state laws and policies. Your role will directly contribute to enhancing patient safety and expanding access to health care across Washington State.

Key Responsibilities Include
? Credentialing Coordination: Evaluate applications for compliance with policies, laws, and credentialing standards. Manage the intake, verification, and approval processes, ensuring timely and accurate updates in licensing systems.
? Consultation and Support: Provide expert consultation to staff and providers on challenging credentialing questions. Interpret and explain licensing laws and procedures while assisting with the credentialing of new applicants.
? Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve irregularities in credentialing applications. Provide recommendations to management for process improvements.
? Quality Assurance: Conduct quality reviews of credentialing processes and ensure data accuracy in the credentialing systems.
? Collaboration: Coordinate with HSQA teams and external partners to streamline workflow and keep credentialing processes efficient.
? During public health emergencies, this role may assist with emergency response activities.

Location and Flexibility

We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. Attending events or working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.

Required Qualifications

Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

Each Of The Following Are Required
? Two (2) or more years of experience processing applications for a health profession or facility credentialing program.
? One (1) year or more of experience using the division?s Integrated Licensing and Regulatory System (ILRS) database.
? Two (2) or more years of experience resolving customer inquiries, problems or complaints in a high production environment.
? Six (6) months experience and an ability to use computer software as follows:
? Word processing software such as Microsoft Word to create, format, edit, preview, print, and save documents. Ability to use standard functions to select, edit, copy, paste, format, and spell check text.
? Electronic communications and calendar programs, such as Outlook, to compose, send, and respond to electronic mail, and coordinate schedules and schedule meetings.
? Electronic database system to update or maintain records.
? Accessing and searching internet to find and download information.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
? Additional years of experience processing applications for a health profession or facility credentialing program.
? One or more years of experience reviewing documents and taking appropriate action based on an analysis of the information.
? Associate degree or higher education.
? Three (3) or more years of demonstrated knowledge and understanding of credentialing requirements, processes and procedures. Familiarity with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within particular field of DOH credentialing.

Conditions of Employment
