Job Description:

BlazerJobs is seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in La Porte, IN for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position involves working in a specialized Emotional-Sensory-Communication (ESC) classroom with Kindergarten and 1st-grade students. The students have the cognitive ability to succeed academically but require support in staying on task and developing social-emotional skills. You will collaborate with a paraprofessional, behavior consultants, occupational therapists, and other specialists who provide push-in support throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities: ? Lead a self-contained classroom with 10 students, providing individualized instruction to support academic and social-emotional development. ? Implement and adapt lesson plans that align with each student's academic abilities and emotional-sensory needs. ? Collaborate with a paraprofessional, behavior consultants, occupational therapists, and other specialists who provide additional classroom support. ? Monitor and track student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to help students meet their IEP goals. ? Create a structured and supportive learning environment that helps students develop both academically and socially.

Qualifications: ? Licensure: Must hold a valid Special Education Teaching License in the state of Indiana. ? Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly in an ESC or similar program, is preferred. ? Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and support staff. ? A passion for helping students overcome challenges and achieve academic and social-emotional success.
